AFMS is a lean, efficient, ISAM-compatible, indexed file system, withextensive built-in restart/recovery and referential integrity. AFMSprovides distributed OLTP database management services without the size,complexity, and overhead of a DBMS. AFMS is used by military andfinancial institutions for mission-critical, high-performance, high-availability, multithreaded transaction processing systems. AFMS fullymanages and protects complex data structures during realtime updating,thereby removing that responsibility from user-written code. AFMS andAFMS-based applications are portable to IBM mainframe, UNIX, and variousUNIX-like platforms. Much smaller and simpler than a DBMS, AFMS iseasily administered by non-technical end-users. AFMS and accompanyingutilities are available to application product vendors on an OEM basis,as well as to in-house software developers.
